„Rococo under Construction“ – Curator’s tour (English)



Over 300 years ago, Elector Clemens August laid the foundation stone for the construction of Augustusburg Palace in Brühl. From 27 June to 1 November 2026, the special exhibition ‘Rococo under Construction – the Making of Augustusburg Palace’ in the Yellow Apartment will focus on the construction site of the palace in the 18th century.

Which architects, artists and craftsmen shaped one of Europe’s most outstanding Rococo palaces? Which artisans do we know? Which techniques, tools and materials were used? This 90-minute tour will give you in-depth insights into the planning, construction and furnishing of Augustusburg Palace.
